July 20, 2011: After eight years of serving small to medium sized organizations and generating significant impacts through its programs, the Center for eBusiness & Advanced IT is in the process of closing. Budget cuts at both the state and federal levels as well as limited funds available through public and private foundations have resulted in a lack of sustainable funding for the Center and its programs.
All full-time staff have successfully found positions in other organizations. The final shutdown process is being managed through Penn State – Erie and its Outreach office by Senior Associate Dean and Director Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Robert W. Light.
If your company received a grant award prior to July 1, 2011 through either the IT Kickstart or IT Apprentice programs, you should contact Carrie Payne at email@example.com or 814/898-6686. The plan is to honor all outstanding grant commitments before the Center is closed. However, if you have questions, please contact Carrie.
This web site has been transferred to the Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) as have the IT Kickstart and IT Apprentice programs. If your company has an interest in applying for either of these grants, you can contact Ron May, Business Systems & Administration Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 814/456-6299 Ext 109. The Business Technology Service Locator database will also continue to be offered by the NWIRC through this web site.
The IT Kickstart program has reopened through the NWIRC in the September, 2011 with revised qualifications and award parameters. See details and events scheduled on the NWIRC (www.nwirc.org) and eBizITPA (www.ebizitpa.org) web sites. The IT Apprentice program is under evaluation and may be offered at a future date.
