Broadband at Home Brochure

The Broadband at Home brochure, made possible through a partnership with the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission, outlines the value of broadband and how it can be obtained. Broadband, also known as high speed Internet, provides faster access to online information; however, it is still unavailable in many rural areas of Pennsylvania. According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, broadband adoption in rural areas in 2007 was only 31 percent.

Broadband at Home provides readers with the steps that should be taken to get broadband service in their area via the Bona Fide Retail Request (BFRR) program, administered locally through the Northwest Commission. This program requires service providers to make broadband available to customers in a specific Customer Service Area (CSA) within 365 days. For this to apply, a certain number of customers must agree to purchase the broadband service for one year.

Electronic versions of the brochure are available as a free download, courtesy of eBizITPA.

Printed copies of the Broadband at Home brochure are available in large quantities. To obtain copies or to learn how to get broadband through the BFRR program, contact the Northwest Regional Planning and Development Commission at (814) 677-4800.
