eBizITPA  eProcurement Tool Hits First $1 Million

ERIE: October 21, 2003---eBizITPA, a resource center designed to help Pennsylvania businesses use technology to be more competitive, announced today that its initial clients have conducted $1 million in online business using DynaQuote, the Center’s electronic procurement tool.  Purchasing departments in several organizations have reported savings of over 27% by creating greater efficiencies in their procurement on a range of products and services.

“Our initial clients are very diverse – from education and non-profit institutions to manufacturing,” according to Susan Breon, President of eBizITPA.  “However, their motivations are common. They all are looking to control costs, extend their reach to new suppliers, and increase efficiency in their supply chain.” Breon said that eBizITPA was among the early users, purchasing services and computers as part of its start up earlier this year.

According to Breon, as an example of savings, Penn State University (PSU) conducted several reverse auctions using DynaQuote and reported savings in excess of $150,000 a year in one multi-year contract.  Other companies using the tool developed by eBizITPA and available since March, report reductions of 6% to 44% over current material costs, and a reduction in their procurement cycle from weeks to days. The Center estimates the savings on the first $1 million in business at over $250,000. Breon said “This supports the statistical evidence that the Center used in developing this program as one of its first services for Pennsylvania businesses. Our hope is that every business and organization will take advantage of this procurement tool because it is affordable, easy-to-use, and it works.”

eBizITPA maintains DynaQuote client privacy and does not reveal individual trading partners or details on DynaQuote events, but according to Marty Barclay, DynaQuote Program Manager, the initial customers have seen an immediate impact on their bottom line.  “Our training program, initial consulting, help-desk support, and low cost combine to make a powerful tool that quickly generates genuine savings for small and medium-sized customers.”

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology is a statewide Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority initiative designed to help Pennsylvania businesses and organizations understand and use information technology and e-business tools.  It is headquartered in Erie, PA and located on the Internet at www.ebizitPA.org.  DynaQuote can be found at www.b4bnet.com
