3/13/2008 - eBizITPA’s 300th IT Implementation Grant Awarded

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) reached a major benchmark in February by awarding its 300th IT implementation grant to The Hite Company in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The grant will assist the company in making major upgrades to its current Web site in order to increase visibility and streamline company processes.


2/26/2008 - eBizITPA Presents Comprehensive Guide to Successful Email Marketing

The eMarketing Learning Center @ eBizITPA is debuting a new training opportunity, The Comprehensive Guide to Successful Email Marketing, on March 6, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course is committed to establishing a comprehensive understanding of e-mail marketing and providing easy steps to implement these skills as part of an overall marketing strategy.


1/21/2008 - Study Reveals That Pennsylvania Needs High Skilled IT Workers

If a region wants to become more competitive, improve its attractiveness to manufacturers, and increase manufacturing jobs, it should take advantage of programs and opportunities to expand the percentage of skilled IT workers who live in the region, according to a recent study on manufacturing productivity conducted by James A. Kurre, Ph.D.

11/2/2007 - eBizITPA Welcomes New Director of Advanced Technology

Amy Bridger joins the Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) as the Director of Advanced Technology. Amy has over thirteen years experience in IT support, project management, customer service, and corporate training. She will be responsible to assist start-up and small businesses in the planning, development, marketing and execution of technology related new products.

8/28/2007 - eBizITPA Welcomes Two New Hires

Carrie Payne Teetzel recently joined the Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) as the director of education programs. Drawing on her nine years of experience in the field of higher education, Teetzel will be responsible for developing a strategic plan and associated curriculum for eBizITPA’s technology education program, which includes courses in e-marketing, Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) and information technology basics.

6/28/2007 - eDynaQuoteTM Purchased By Vista Auctions

eDynaQuoteT, the Erie-based provider of Internet competitive bidding services owned by the Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA), has been purchased by Vista Auctions, LLC, a State College, Pa. company with principals in San Diego, Calif. and Tarrytown, N.Y. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

6/1/2007 - eDynaQuoteTM Presents eSourcing

eDynaQuote presented a session on "Incorporating Electronic Purchasing (e-Sourcing) into an Overall Procurement Program" at the Spring Management Meeting of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association in Denver, CO.

5/25/2007 - Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit Saves Using Reverse Auction

The North West Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU-5) recently used an Internet-based reverse auction hosted by eDynaQuote to purchase copier paper for its member schools and saved over $40,000. eDynaQuote is a provider of Internet-based competitive bidding services headquartered in Erie.

3/20/2007 - eDynaQuote Featured in National Magazine

In its February issue, Government Procurement, a national publication for government purchasing officials, featured a story about a reverse auction hosted by Erie-based eDynaQuoteT that saved a local government authority in Pennsylvania over $87,500. eDynaQuoteT is a provider of online competitive bidding services. The national exposure generated interest from government officials outside Pennsylvania.

3/8/2007 - PA Taxpayers Have Saved over $120,000 in Six Months

Since the Local Government Unit Electronic Bidding Act, PA Act 88 of 2006 took effect six months ago, Pennsylvania taxpayers have saved over $120,000 in reduced costs of purchased goods and services, plus additional savings in efficiency, as a result of use of the new, streamlined competitive bid processes by some Pennsylvania local government units such as municipalities, school districts, Councils of Governments, authorities, and others.

3/2/2007 - eDynaQuote Expands Sales into Greater NYC Market

eDynaQuote, the provider of internet-based competitive bidding services and consulting based in Erie, PA, has expanded its sales and marketing initiatives into the greater New York City area. Joseph Roman, a New Jersey resident with over 20 years of sales and marketing experience, has joined eDynaQuote as Director of Business Development. In this capacity, he manages sales relationships with new and existing clients in the New York Tri-State territory, which includes southern New York, New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania. 2/20/2007 - New Feature Allows Buyers to Base Purchase Decisions on Factors and Price

As any purchasing director will agree, there is more to making a purchasing decision than lowest price alone. To address that issue, Erie, PA-based eDynaQuote, a provider of internet-based competitive bidding services and consulting for businesses, organizations, and government units, has up-graded its software to allow buyers to download into an Excel spreadsheet additional data about prospective vendors.

2/9/2007 - City of Erie School District Saves $29,000

The City of Erie School District put orders for video security equipment out to bid on February 1 and saved $29,000. The savings resulted from the use of an Internet-based reverse auction instead of the usual sealed paper bid process. The auction was conducted by eDynaQuote, a provider of Internet-based competitive bidding services headquartered in Erie.

1/23/2007 - eDynaQuote Sales Performance Doubles in Final Quarter

Only two quarters into its 2007 fiscal year, eDynaQuote, the Erie-based provider of internet-based competitive bidding services and consulting, has nearly doubled sales revenues and new client commitments over the entire previous four quarters. Revenues and new client commitments for the quarter ending December 31, 2006 were triple those of the comparable quarter in 2005. The growth is attributed to expansion of sales and marketing, and is expected to continue into 2007.

1/23/2007 - eDynaQuote Introduces New Platform with Enhanced Capabilities

Recently eDynaQuote, a provider of internet-based competitive bidding services and consulting headquartered in Erie, launched a new platform that enhances the levels of service it makes available for clients. With the new platform, clients now have expanded pre-bid functionality, instant messaging capabilities (IM), and the option of a weighted bid format.

1/15/2007 - Local Governments Learning How to Use the Internet to Improve Competitive Bid Process

Since September, 2006, when legislation took effect that allows local government units to use of the Internet for the competitive bid process, eDynaQuote's free educational programs have been in demand. eDynaQuote is the Erie-based provider of Internet-based competitive bidding services and consulting. Local government units include municipalities, school districts, authorities, Councils of Governments, etc.

12/13/2006 - Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority

The Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) put two orders for chemicals out to bid on November 30, 2006 and saved $87,500. 9/07/2006 - New Electronic Bidding and Online Reverse Auction Tools Introduced To Officials

Officials from Erie County-based municipalities, authorities, school districts, and other local government units (LGUs) received an overview of the benefits of the new electronic bidding and online reverse auction tools they are now entitled to use as a result of the recently enacted Local Government Unit Electronic Bidding Act, PA Act 88 of 2006. Representative Curt Sonney and Senator Jane Earll - who sponsored the legislation - hosted the event today at the Knowledge Park Center in Erie.

Streamlined Government Procurement Processes and Big Savings for Taxpayers Possible
The Erie-based Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) applauds new legislation passed by the Pennsylvania Senate on June 30 and signed into law by Governor Ed Rendell on July 7. The Local Government Unit Electronic Bidding Act, PA Act 88 of 2006, allows local government units - municipalities, school districts, COGs, authorities and others - to incorporate electronic bidding and reverse auctions into their competitive bidding processes. eBizITPA offers training programs and services to help local government units maximize the advantages of e-business tools.

6/01/2006 - Phase 1 Great Lakes Surveillance Research Completed

The U.S. is one step closer to a safer and more secure northern border in the Great Lakes region based on research by faculty and students at Penn State Behrend and Mercyhurst College. The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) today announced initial results from a multi-phase research initiative to increase maritime surveillance on the Great Lakes.

4/19/2006 - Businesses to Ride Radio Wave

Vendors of both the Department of Defense and Wal-Mart are expected to ship their products with Radio Frequency identification (RFID) tags by 2007; other major retailers and manufacturers are not far behind. The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) and the RFID Research Center at Penn State Behrend are hosting the RU Ready for RFID? Conference from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on May 31, 2006.

3/20/2006 - A Free Online Directory Connecting PA's IT Providers to Potential Customers

eBizITPA, a PA information technology service agency, has created a free online directory of Pennsylvania IT and solution provider companies called the IT Service Locator. Users can search the directory for listed PA IT providers by entering keywords, categories of IT services, or a preferred city or county.

7/11/2005 - Erie Company Secures $100,000 Phase One SBIR Grant from Department of Energy

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) recently provided research and consulting assistance to Spin-works, an Erie manufacturer, that enabled the company to obtain a $100,000 grant from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program of the United States Department of Energy.

Eriez was just one of 20 area businesses who took part in the first round of the program offered by The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) and round 2 of funding is about to begin.

eBizITPA at Knowledge Park is offering a new training course, "Introduction to Electronic Document Management", to be taught by industry analyst and long-time editor of Document Imaging Report, Ralph Gammon.

11/9/2004 - eBizITPA Develops Online Tool to Promote Events

eBizITPA has launched a new event listing application on the website www.ebizitpa.org. The Event Posting tool provides a convenient online location for publicizing important upcoming business or technology-related events. Created as an interactive resource, it allows businesses and organizations to post their own upcoming events on the Events page of the eBizITPA website.

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) announces the addition of four employees: Ron May, Marty Barclay, Doug Luthringer and Gerry Schneggenburger.

10/08/2004 - Researchers Studying Radar Security for Great Lakes

The Center for eBusiness & Advanced IT (eBizITPA) announced that it is coordinating a research initiative to increase surveillance on the Great Lakes that will uniquely combine expertise from Penn State Erie and Mercyhurst College. The initial project will involve technology research by Penn State Erie's Center for Navigation, Communication and Information Systems (CNCIS) led by Dr. Robert Gray into the capacity of existing radar equipment to track vessel movement on Lake Erie. The results will be paired with analysis by the Mercyhurst College Institute for Intelligence Studies (MCIIS) led by Mr. Robert Heibel on information requirements for border control, vessel identification and rescue, emergency management and agency coordination and response.

Demonstrating the power of technology, eBizITPA is now offering its first on-line course, Reverse Auctions: Buyer Strategy. The self-paced course costs less and takes less time than the instructor-based live version of the same class.

A pilot program designed to help small- and medium-sized companies make critical advances in information technology is turning $100,000 in state funding into nearly $1 million in IT investments in northwest Pennsylvania.

1/27/2004 - eBizITPA Pilots New Program to Help Businesses Kickstart IT Projects

Today the Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) together with the Northwest Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) introduced a new pilot program called IT Kickstart. The program is designed to help small and medium size Northwest PA businesses use information technology to improve business processes through competitive grants to help fund their IT projects.

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) is holding a series of KICK-OFF events to announce its newest program-- IT Kickstart. eBizITPA and the Northwest Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) hope to accelerate the use of e-business and information technology (IT) for small and medium sized Northwest PA companies by providing grants to fund IT projects as well as expertise to get the projects moving.

11/14/2003 - Rendell Administration Welcomes New Technology Center to Pennsylvania

On behalf of Governer Edward G. Rendell, Davis Yeager, Director of the Governer's Action Team, today announced that 60 new jobs will be created during the next three years as a result of BTC Solutions Inc.'s decision to locate its North American Technology Center in Erie.

10/21/2003 - eBizITPA eProcurement Tool Hits First $1 Million

eBizITPA announced today that its initial clients have conducted $1 million in online business using DynaQuote, the Center's electronic procurement tool. Purchasing departments in several organizations have reported savings of over 27% by creating greater efficiencies in their procurement on a range of products and services.

7/24/2003 - Rendell Administration Announces Funding For Technology Projects

Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Yablonsky today announced the approval of a total of more than $30 million in funding by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority (BFTDA) to support Pennsylvania's technology-focused economic development strategy. The funding is being provided to the Center for e-Business and Advanced Information Technology located in Erie and the four regional Ben Franklin Technology Partners.

6/18/2003 - eBizITPA Open For e-Business Event Planned for Technology Center

eBizITPA, a resource center designed to help Pennsylvania businesses and organizations understand and use information technology and e-business tools through a range of services and programs, will host an open house Monday June 23, 3:30 to 5:00 PM and Tuesday June 24, 7:30 to 9:00 AM at the Center located at 5340 Fryling Road in Knowledge Park adjacent to Penn State Behrend.

5/9/2003 - eBizITPA Pilots Electronic Trading Tool for Branding Project

The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology has put into practice its first electronic supply chain offering, DynaQuote, a web-based business-to-business (B2B) "reverse auction" tool. A reverse auction is where qualified sellers bid against one-another through the Internet to sell their goods and services to buyers by offering the lowest price. Ebay is the most well-known example of Internet online auctions; reverse auctions switch the places of buyer and seller and bidding goes to the lowest price.

4/25/2003 - Paradigm Infotech to Support Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT

A Baltimore, MD based, global information technology (IT) provider has expanded its operations to northwest Pennsylvania. Paradigm Infotech has secured an office in Millcreek and hired a local manager to oversee 10 employees, including a number of IT workers taking part in a new program administered by the Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology.

3/6/2003 - Ben Franklin Targets Cure for Ailing Region
